“New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings” -Lao Tzu

Often times, things are looked at as one-sided—on a surface level.

For example, people may think that tears make you weak. But doesn’t feeling make you strong?

People may think that speaking as loud as you can will make you heard. But isn’t silence heard even louder?

The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said, “new beginnings are often disguised as painful endings”. Sometimes you need to go through the hurricane to reach the eye of the storm. Sometimes in order for rebirth and re growth to take place, you need to hit the restart button on your life. Just as the forest naturally fires and destroys itself in order to bring new life. If I am being truly honest with myself, there are many things in my life I could have tried much harder at. Things I could have thrown myself into doing with every part of me. In the past, I was always somehow conscious of this. I could feel myself not trying nearly as hard enough as I could at many things; whether it be in the workplace or in my personal life. But not anymore. I no longer sit back and watch myself as if nothing can change. The restart button was right in front of me so I hit it. A painful ending is just a new beginning.
